William L. Rulon-Miller Joins Cross Atlantic Capital Partners

Radnor, Pennsylvania, October 1, 2009 – Cross Atlantic Capital Partners today announced that William L. Rulon-Miller has joined the firm as Partner and Managing Director.  In his new role, Mr. Rulon-Miller will work closely with the Cross Atlantic team in its management of the firm’s portfolio companies, investment evaluations, fund raising initiatives, as well as working with and providing guidance to the firm’s portfolio companies’ entrepreneurs and management teams.

Mr. Rulon-Miller brings over 33 years of investment banking experience to Cross Atlantic.  Most recently, he served at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC in Philadelphia as Co-Head of the Investment Banking department.  During his 30 year tenure at Janney, he participated in public and private capital market transactions that raised over $15 billion for corporate clients, and was instrumental in merger and acquisition transactions ranging in size from $10 million to $500 million.

“In addition to his exceptional breadth and depth of experience, Bill is quite familiar with our firm,” noted Cross Atlantic Capital Partner Founder, Chairman and CEO Donald Caldwell.  “He has served on the Investment Committees of both Cross Atlantic Co-Investment Funds since their inception, and has a long history of working with a number of our firm’s Partners.  His insight and expertise will prove invaluable as we continue to build value with our portfolio companies and raise new funds.”

From 1976 until 1979, Mr. Rulon-Miller was an officer in the Investment Banking Department of Smith Barney, working in both the New York City and San Francisco offices.  Over the years, he has served on the Board of Directors of numerous publicly-held and private corporations, including Intelligent Electronics, Mothers Work, Metrologic Instruments, and the JPM Company.  He has also served on the Board of Directors and Investment Committees of several venture capital firms including Ten Penn Center Partners, the Penn Janney Fund, and Liberty Venture Partners.

An active speaker, Mr. Rulon-Miller has been a guest lecturer on the topic of Investment Banking at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the Fox School of Business at Temple University and Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business.

He currently serves as a Trustee of the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Woodlynde School in Strafford, Pennsylvania.  In 2004, Mr. Rulon-Miller received the Blair Thompson Lifetime Venture Award from the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group (now the Mid-Atlantic Capital Alliance), which recognizes an individual who has played a major role in strengthening the region’s venture capital community.  He holds an A.B. in English literature from Princeton University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
